Dr Tim Königstein has been honoured with the Peter Heinrich Award 2023.
Tim Königstein began his professional career by studying mechanical
engineering at RWTH Aachen University in the field of production
technology and took part in the double master's programme at Tsinghua
University in Beijing in the field of automotive engineering. He came to
thermal spraying while working as a student assistant at the Institute
of Surface Technology (IOT) at RWTH Aachen University, where he was
later able to expand his experience in this technology as a project
engineer and group leader in the field of thermal spraying. Tim
Königstein also completed his doctorate at the IOT and currently works
as a thermal spraying process expert at GTS member GTV Verschleißschutz
GmbH.
This is only the second time that the Peter Heinrich Award has been
presented by GTS in memory of the co-founder of GTS, Peter Heinrich, who
passed away in 2017. The new award is presented to outstanding young
professionals who remain true to thermal spraying in their professional
careers and continue to advance this technology. With this award, the
GTS Executive Board recognises Peter Heinrich's constant commitment
to promoting young talent in the field of thermal spraying.

The Peter Heinrich Award 2023 was presented at the 12th HVOF Colloquium 2023 in Erding. In future, the award will be presented every three years at the HVOF colloquia. The Peter Heinrich Award is endowed with prize money of 5,000 euros..
